1 Kings 17
God called Elijah to go to Sidon, the very region from which Queen Jezebel had brought Baal worship. It was a pagan and ungodly land. Baal was the king of their gods. They worshiped Baal as the god of rain and dew. He was the god who “rode on the clouds.” But it was here that God did one of the most amazing miracles through Elijah. He raised a boy to life. This is the first record in the Bible of someone being raised from the dead. God “showed up” Baal in his own territory. Baal could never raise a boy from the dead, but the One, True and Living God could. God will always receive the glory.
