1 Kings 16.
King Ahab was, up until this point in Israelite history, the most evil and wicked of all the things. Not only did he allow Baal worship, he married a woman who had an agenda to completely wipe out Yahweh worship from the land of Israel. Jezebel was from Sidon. She was a Phoenician. The Phoenicians were descendants of the Canaanites who had been allowed to stay in the land of Canaan when the Israelites first entered the land.
Joshua warned the Israelites that by not removing these people from the land, their gods would become a snare to them, and that’s exactly what happened. Not only was it a snare, but it threatened their entire existence as the people of God.
God in His mercy would send a prophet, a mighty man of courage to stir the fire in the hearts of the people back to God….
