Once Joshua and the Israelites were in the land, Joshua did something very, very important. Joshua built an altar. An altar was usually made of stones and was flat on top like a table. It was the place where the sacrifices to the Lord were made. Many times, when altars were built in the Bible, it was a place for the people to worship God and thank him for what he had done for them. Joshua not only built an altar of stone, but he carved the law of God into the stone altar so the Israelites would never forgot God’s commands to them. He put before them life and death. What would they choose?
