Because Solomon had not followed in the ways of his father, David and allowed idolatry to spread within the land of Israel, the Lord told him that he would take part of the kingdom from him. The Lord would give Jeroboam ten of the tribes of Israel to rule over. In the end, Solomon learned from his mistakes and repented before the Lord. He realized that even though he had everything he could ever want, it wasn’t enough to fulfill Him. Only a relationship with God can do that. Nothing in life satisfies us apart from God. He is our source of life, peace and joy.
